Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), received a message of greeting from Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and president of the People's Republic of China (PRC), on September 9.

Xi Jinping in the message extended his sincere congratulations to Kim Jong Un and, through him, to the WPK, the government and people of the DPRK on behalf of the CPC, the Chinese government and people and on his own behalf on the occasion of the 74th founding anniversary of the DPRK.

For the past 74 years the Korean people have advanced with redoubled efforts, united close around the WPK, and thus achieved important successes in implementing the cause of building socialism, the message said.

The Korean people have registered ceaseless new successes in economic development and the improvement of people's living standard in recent years according to the policy confirmed at the 8th Congress of the WPK and have successfully curbed the spread of COVID-19, it noted.

We are sincerely rejoiced over the above-said fact as good comrades, neighbors and friends, it pointed out.

It expressed the belief that the fraternal Korean people would surely achieve new development and reach a new stage by propelling the socialist cause of Korea under the leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Un and the WPK.

It said that the two countries, the PRC and the DPRK, are linked by the same mountains and rivers, and the traditional friendship is getting more solid as the days go by.

Xi Jinping in the message stressed that he, with Kim Jong Un, have the important common understanding of some pending issues to draw up a blueprint for the development of relations between the two parties and countries and to enrich contents of the times of the China-DPRK friendship.

The message noted that the China-DPRK friendship takes its root deep in the minds of people, exchange and cooperation between the two countries are durably promoted and both sides have demonstrated the vitality of the traditional China-DPRK friendship while supporting each other in important issues of mutual concern.

It said that the world in which the greatest change in 100 years is taking place rapidly has entered the period of a new upheaval and change.

It underscored that the Chinese side is ready to provide more excellent wellbeing for the two countries and peoples and to contribute to peace, stability, development and prosperity of the region and the rest of the world by maintaining strategic communications with the Korean side, cementing tuning and cooperation and jointly and creditably safeguarding, consolidating and developing the China-DPRK friendship.

It wished the DPRK prosperity and its people happiness and well-being.
