Pyongyang, October 7 (KCNA) -- Chairman Kim Jong Il was elected as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea on October 8, Juche 86 (1997).
He devoted all his efforts to strengthening the WPK, founded by President Kim Il Sung , into the party of the leader and into the steel-strong and motherly party. His immortal feats remain in the history of the WPK forever.
In the first period after he started his work at the Party Central Committee in June 1964, he formulated the principal line of the Party work from the viewpoint of the theory of centering around the leader and provided guidelines for building our Party into the great leader's Party.
Thanks to his leadership, the revolutionary idea of the President was formulated as Kimilsungism, the modeling of the whole society on Kimilsungism was proclaimed as the supreme programme of the WPK and the revolutionary working system, in which the Party building and activities are conducted as intended by the leader, was established.
The Chairman formulated the revolution as the love and trust in the people and developed our Party into the genuine motherly Party which has become a harmonious whole with the masses by thoroughly embodying it in the Party building and activities.
During the whole period of his revolutionary leadership, he steadily improved the system and method of the Party work in order to demonstrate it as the revolutionary one with strong sense of organization and discipline, which does whatever it determines to do.
Thanks to his experienced leadership, our Party could embody the leadership principle and method of Juche in the Party building and activities and ensure in every way the Party's guidance over the revolution and construction.
His immortal Party building feats are now glorified as the great monument under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un . -0-
