In last August, an old lady was carried to Pyongyang Municipal General Hospital No. 3 after a sudden accident.
She was Jong Myong Suk, living in neighborhood unit No.25 in Chilgol-dong No.2, Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang.
Her life hung in the balance as she got badly burnt 70 % of her body. To make the matters worse, she was over 70.
Every doctor was strained. At the time Dr. Kim Chol Jin of the traumatic and orthopedic department volunteered to treat her saying that he would consider her as his mother and bring her back to life without fail.
As expected, the treatment was not easy.
However, the medical workers dedicated their ardent sincerity to resuscitate the old lady.
Not only the medical workers but also many other kind-minded people took care of her.
The head of the neighborhood unit brought with her precious medicines to the patient and the wife of the head of the traumatic and orthopedic department visited the patient with nourishing food. Besides, neighbors frequently visited the hospital to encourage her almost every day.
Thanks to their sincerity, the old lady revived and got better day by day.
However, one day when the lady nearly recovered her health, the doctor in charge urged her to put off the discharge.
He told the inquiring lady that the burn was cured well but she had other diseases and he would treat her. The lady dissuaded him saying it was senile decay but he said.
"Everyone should leave the hospital after curing every disease in our socialist public health system."
Thus, she left the hospital in good health after being treated in the hospital for scores of days.
The noble traits of our medical workers and the feature of our harmonious society full of affection can be seen through the scores of days.
