An enlarged plenary meeting of the DPRK Cabinet took place through video conferencing on Jan. 20 to carry through the important tasks set forth at the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK).
Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, presided over the meeting.
Present there were vice-premiers Pak Jong Gun and Yang Sung Ho and other members of the Cabinet.
Attending it as observers were officials of organs under the Cabinet and those from ministries, chairpersons of provincial, city and county people’s committees and officials from agricultural guidance organs and major industrial establishments.
The meeting discussed measures for thoroughly carrying out the important tasks set forth at the Party Central Committee plenary meeting.
Kim Tok Hun made a report.
He called on all the leading officials in the economic field to go all out for the new year’s general advance for implementing the Party’s decisions with fresh determination and will on the basis of experience and lessons gained in the last year’s struggle.
He underscored the need for major industrial sectors and units to concentrate efforts on attaining the 12 major goals of economic development set by the Party and put spurs to the production and construction so as to unconditionally carry out their monthly and quarterly national economic plans.
He stressed that all the officials should firmly arm themselves with the idea of the Party Central Committee plenary meeting and successfully carry out the national economic plans assigned to their sectors and units by renewing their working style and manner so as to build a decisive guarantee for implementing the five-year plan and make a positive contribution to glorifying this year as a year of great turn and change.
Speeches were made at the meeting.
Taken at the meeting was a measure for the issues raised by the participants over the Cabinet work, the administrative and economic affairs of the state, and a decision indicating more detailed and scientific ways of action was adopted with unanimous approval.
