Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- Today is International Day of Education.
It is a consistent policy of the DPRK to attach importance to the education and direct efforts to its development.
Thanks to the energetic guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is ushering in a new heyday of Juche-oriented education with his noble outlook on the rising generations and future, the climate of attaching importance to education has been established throughout society, the foundation for rapidly developing the education of the country further consolidated and a revolutionary turn brought about in education.
The universal 11-year compulsory education was developed into the universal 12-year compulsory education, and thus the younger generations have grown up to be Juche-type revolutionary talents and the future of the country possessed of general secondary knowledge, modern basic technical knowledge and high creative ability.
Schools have been built for one or two children in deep mountains or remote islands. And teachers are visiting pupils and disabled children are enjoying equal learning.
The work to strengthen the teachers' forces, improve their qualifications as educators and provide the educators with better living conditions is also conducted as a nationwide and all-society work.
With Pyongyang Teachers Training College as a model, the educational conditions and environment of many educational institutions have been improved and successes have been made in the work to improve the contents, forms and methods of education.
Schoolchildren's palaces and halls and children's camps and other bases for extracurricular education and life have been remodeled and modernized across the country so that the schoolchildren can cultivate their talents to the full.
