There is a family which people call an army house in Neighborhood Unit No. 51 of Ponghak-dong, Phyongchon District, Pyongyang.
It is the family of Jo Nam Su, a worker of the Phyongchon District Building Management Office.
His five children serve as officers of the Korean People’s Army,
Jo Nam Su’s father had devoted his life to national defence in the revolutionary military uniform.
Jo Nam Su is also a discharged officer who had served as a company commander of the People’s Army for nearly 20 years.
His eldest son, Jo Il Hyok, is a company commander of the KPA; his second son, Jo Kwon Hyok, a company political instructor; his twin third and fourth sons, Jo Kang Hyok and Jo Chol Hyok, serve as platoon leaders; and his eldest son-in-law, Ryang Chun Nam, is an officer of the KPA.
His father, when Jo Nam Su graduated from middle school, telling him the story of his grandfather who died too early after being arrested and subjected to severe torture by the enemy during the Fatherland Liberation War, earnestly said that the military service should be the eternal tradition of his family as long as the enemies remain on this land.
True to the father’s request, Jo Nam Su glorified the days of military service with feats and, after graduating from a military academy, became a commander of the company associated with the leadership exploits of Chairman Kim Jong Il.
He devoted his all to turning the company into the elite combat rank and the dear home of soldiers.
When he got married and his sons were born one after another, he decided to bring up his children wonderfully and let them stand at the post of national defence.
His children woke up by the reveille of the KPA and began their daily routine with running and physical training.
When his children joined the KPA, he felt a great joy.
The sons, who know too well the profound feelings of their parents regarding the military service as the greatest family custom, entered the military academy with a determination to glorify their lives in the military uniforms of the revolution.
As there are many people like Jo Nam Su who regard it as their duty to defend the Party and the country by arms forever and steadily carry on the patriotic family custom, our Party is strong and our country is impregnable.
