Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- Pyongyang City of the DPRK pushes ahead with the work to increase the production of electricity by solar energy.
Big efforts are directed to building a large number of grid-connected solar power plants in major districts, jointly participated in by several units, and putting the production on a normal basis.
In recent years, Central, Phyongchon, Pothonggang and Tongdaewon districts have built solar power plants in the areas with high percentage of sunshine and put their operation on a scientific basis.
The city people's committee has helped various districts to ensure the construction of solar power plants on a scientific basis by providing necessary sci-tech data.
The installation of solar panels is now progressing apace in Moranbong District.
The construction of similar power plants is being pushed forward as planned in Sosong, Songyo, Taesong and other districts, too.
The Phyongchon District set it as a goal to increase the production capacity of its solar power plant more than four times. -0-
