An enlarged plenary meeting of the Cabinet Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea was held on the 15th to carry out the decisions of the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee.
Kim Tok Hun, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and Vice-President of the State Affairs Commission and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and Ri Yong Sik, Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Committee of the WPK, guided the meeting.
Attending the meeting were members and alternate members of the Cabinet Party Committee and officials concerned as observers.
The meeting reviewed the work of the Cabinet in the first year of implementing the programme of rural revolution in the new era. It seriously discussed the measures for strictly implementing the policy-oriented tasks of the Cabinet and the state economic organs on the basis of the important guideline of struggle decided on and clarified by the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK.
The reporter stressed that the major objectives for definitely putting the agricultural production on a track of stable development and substantially cementing the politico-ideological, material and technical foundations of the countryside are the tasks to be carried out without fail by displaying the dynamic spirit and practical ability.
The discussion was focussed on the issues on inspiring all the Party organizations and Party members to attaining the grain production goal, the first of the 12 main goals for the development of the national economy, and on turning the Cabinet Party Committee into a powerful traction locomotive in the implementation of the Party's strategy of rural development.
The meeting stressed the need for the economic guidance organs to establish a strict discipline of implementing the national economic plan and conduct the economic operation and guidance for carrying out the plan in a predictable and correct way.
It called for strengthening the financial foundation and discipline of the country and effecting an innovation in the financial work of the state.
The meeting also discussed the issues for all Party organizations to further stimulate the spiritual strength and creativity of the masses.
Sectional consultations were held to work out the plan for thoroughly carrying out the policy-oriented tasks facing the Cabinet and the state economic organs and a resolution was adopted with unanimous approval at the meeting.
