A meeting took place on Wednesday to mark the 50th founding anniversary of the "1 000-ri Journey for Learning" Schoolchildren’s Palace.
Present at the meeting were Kim Jang Won, secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), and teaching staff and hobby group members of the palace.
Kim Hak Chol, chief of the palace, said in his report that the schoolchildren’s palace is a home of love and a palace of happiness built under the benevolent care of the peerlessly great men who spared nothing for posterity.
The reporter noted that President Kim Il Sung took a benevolent measure to build a palace for schoolchildren during his field guidance over Jagang Province in May Juche 53 (1964) and sent equipment and cultural apparatuses necessary for operating the palace on various occasions.
He said that Chairman Kim Jong Il watched a performance of its hobby group members, showing warm love and benevolence for them.
The reporter went on to say:
The respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un gave an instruction on wonderfully remodeling the palace as demanded by the developing times and visited it to indicate the concrete orientation and ways for turning it into a comprehensive extracurricular educational base.
Over the past five decades, the palace has produced many future talented scientists, artistes and athletes as well as more October 8 model professors. In the course, it won the honor of receiving a congratulatory message from the WPK Central Committee.
The reporter called upon all the teaching staff to glorify the immortal leadership exploits of the peerlessly great men associated with the palace forever and bring about a fresh turn in the management and operation of the palace and the education of students.
