The First Session of the 14th National People’s Congress of China took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing from March 5 to 13.
Present there were Xi Jinping, senior party and state officials and delegates.
At the meeting a report was made on the work of the government.
The report said that China reached the first century goal by completing the overall building of a comprehensively well-off society overcoming all sorts of ordeals in the past five years under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee headed by Xi Jinping and embarked on a new journey for advance toward the second century goal.
The meeting elected senior state officials.
It ratified resolutions on the government work report, on the implementation of the national economic and social development plan for 2022 and the national economic and social development plan for 2023 and on the execution of the central and local budgets for 2022 and the central and local budgets for 2023, and the national economic and social development plan for 2023 and the central budgets for 2023.
Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, president of the People’s Republic of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made a speech at the closing meeting.
He called on all people to rapidly push the construction for Chinese-style modernization according to the strategic assignment of the 20th CPC Congress and struggle and innovate in unity to make a due contribution to promoting the building of a powerful state, national rejuvenation.
Senior officials in relevant sectors of the central and national agencies, related units of the People’s Liberation Army, units of the people’s armed police force and social organizations attended the opening and closing meetings as observers.
