Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- Tree-planting events took place across the DPRK on March 14, Tree-planting Day.

Taking part in the events were senior Party and government officials and officials and working people across the country.

They devoted their pure conscience and sincerity to the tree-planting with a single desire to contribute to more solemnly and beautifully spruce up the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il lie in state and the historic places associated with the immortal revolutionary exploits of the peerlessly great persons.

Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), and officials of the SPA Standing Committee planted trees of good species with much care in the arboretum of the Central Botanical Garden.

Officials of the Party Central Committee conducted tree-planting on Hwasong Hill, where the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un planted commemorative trees together with the participants in the Second Conference of Secretaries of Primary Committees of the WPK in March last year. While planting trees, they recollected the General Secretary's precious teaching that tree-planting is not merely a technical work of planting trees but an undertaking to implant the policies of our Party, warm patriotism and invariable pure conscience.

With Kim Jong Il's patriotism deeply kept in their mind, officials of working people's organizations, commissions, ministries and national institutions planted trees around the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace, the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Site, the Oun Revolutionary Site, the Munsubong Revolutionary Site, the Monument to Party Founding and other places.

In the Hwasong area of Pyongyang City, army and civilian builders conducted tree-planting with their high enthusiasm and fixed will to create a new Hwasong speed and a legendary story about Hwasong in the construction of another ideal street embodying the Party's idea of people-first politics.

Officials and working people of districts, counties and industrial establishments in Pyongyang decorated streets and villages and workplaces with trees of good species, and those in all provinces sincerely planted trees around the statues of the peerlessly great persons, revolutionary battle sites, revolutionary sites, and cemeteries of fallen fighters of the Korean People's Army in their residential areas.

Officials and working people keenly felt once again the loving care of the Party while planting trees at the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm and the Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm of the North Hamgyong Provincial Rural Economy Committee, which splendidly sprung up as large-scale greenhouse vegetable production bases and new epochal entities as part of the socialist rural development.

The Central Tree Nursery under the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, the Central Tree Nursery under the Ministry of Urban Management, the Kangwon Provincial Tree Nursery and other nurseries across the country successfully produced enough saplings needed for tree-planting.
