Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- True to the idea of the Workers' Party of Korea on pushing ahead with the work to readjust, reinforce and perfect the irrigation system as a grand nature-remaking project, Kangwon Province of the DPRK concentrates efforts and means on the repair and maintenance of the existing irrigation facilities and the expansion of areas under irrigation.
After comprehensivelygrasping irrigation facilities in the region, the province mapped out the planning of stages and projects for reinforcing and perfecting them in a short span of time and gave assignments to relevant units. And it is carrying on the meticulous operation and guidance, giving precedence to the supply of necessary materials and equipment.
Munchon City and Thongchon County finished the waterway-cleaning in a short span of time, while propelling the repair of irrigation structures.
Chonnae, Kosan and Kumgang counties have concentrated efforts on the expansion of the waterway capacity to lay a foundation for supplying enough irrigation water needed for farming, and secured a large amount of water.
Officials and working people in Kimhwa, Kosong and Poptong counties provided electric motors, transformers and other parts needed for repairing and readjusting irrigation facilities in good time and finished the repair of pumping power equipment.
Wonsan City and Anbyon and Phangyo counties are carrying on at the final stage the readjustment and reinforcement of the water pumps needed for irrigation and drainage in the areas vulnerable to drought and floods. -0-
