Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- A meeting of the National Emergency Response Committee was held on Tuesday through videoconferencing. Presiding over the meeting were Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, and Jon Hyon Chol, secretary of the WPK Central Committee. Present were members of the National Emergency Response Committee, senior officials of commissions, ministries and national institutions, officials of Party and power organs in provinces, cities and counties, and others. Kang Sun Nam, minister of National Defense, and other officials of military organs were also present. The meeting reviewed the last year's management of natural disaster crisis and the work of members of the National Emergency Response Committee. A report was made at the meeting. The report referred to the successes made in the last year's work for disaster prevention, including the recovery from the flood damage, and in making material preparations to promptly cope with any crisis, true to the idea of the WPK on putting the state's disaster prevention capability on a new high level in the shortest period of time. It also analyzed and reviewed the deviations and causes. It stressed the need for officials to bring about fresh progress in the work for managing crisis in their sectors and regions with vigilance and redoubled efforts, mindful that the work for preventing natural disaster is an important task for protecting the lives and security of the people and improving the appearance of the country. The meeting called upon all officials to thoroughly implement the resolutions of the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee to strengthen the national disaster prevention capability and organize and conduct in a foresighted manner the work to cope with all sorts of disasters in a flexible way. The meeting dealt with the detailed allotment of duties to the members of the National Emergency Response Committee.
