Dry-field Rice Farming Pushed Ahead in Kaesong City

Pyongyang, March 26 (KCNA) -- Agricultural workers in Kaesong City of the DPRK are pushing ahead with the immediate farming process for dry-field rice farming as planned. The city has directed big efforts to expanding the area of dry-field rice cultivation of high-yielding strains, introducing advanced farming methods and raising the mechanical proportion in farming. They organized workshops for sharing and demonstrating techniques and other activities to give knowledge of the advantages and biological characteristics of dry-field rice to officials and working people in the field of agriculture. Officials of the agricultural guidance organs are improving management work and technical guidance to find a rational way for increased production according to the characteristics of farms and fields, generalizing the successes made by the units which raised the per-hectare yield by properly carrying out dry-field rice farming at farms under their responsibilities. The Haeson Vegetable Farm has organized work according to processes and made preparations for sowing with the goal of increasing the area for dry-field rice cultivation by 1.2 times and increasing the per-hectare yield this year. Agricultural workers on the Singwang and Sinhung farms are carrying out their daily quotas while giving precedence to ploughing.
