A national symposium on epidemiology took place at the Sci-Tech Complex here through video conferencing on March 28 and 29 under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the Medical Association of Korea to mark the 55th publication anniversary of President Kim Il Sung’s famous work "On Combating Epidemics More Effectively".
The work, published on March 26, Juche 57 (1968), clearly gives answers to the theoretical and practical issues arising in implementing the Workers’ Party of Korea’s policy on preventive medicine and brightly illuminates the road ahead of the development of socialist public health.
Present at the symposium were officials, researchers and teachers in the field of anti-epidemic and public health. Choe Kyong Chol, minister of Public Health and chairman of the Central Committee of the Medical Association of Korea, made a speech.
He called for directing efforts to the work for preventing the outbreak and spread of various kinds of infectious diseases, in hearty response to the resolutions of the 8th WPK Congress and the plenary meetings of the Central Committee of the WPK, and conducting brisk scientific research activities for developing diagnostic reagents, efficacious medicines and modern medical appliances in our own way.
The symposium heard valuable research papers needed for solving scientific and technological problems arising in anti-epidemic practice.
During the symposium, there were lectures on the scientific and technological trends.
