General Kim Il Sung stayed in Dabeigou, a guerrilla zone of Wangqing county in Northeast China, giving guidance over the work of the party committee of the zone for many days from late October 1932. At that time the General stayed in a house at the foot of a mountain in Yingbilazi.
While exchanging greetings with the lady of the house on the first day of his stay there, he came to know that her son was serving in a guerrilla army of Macun. He delightfully praised her for having a revolutionary son. “Please regard us as your sons. I’ll hold you as my mother,” said he with a hearty laugh.
From that day he helped her with the household chores in his spare time like a diligent “son”.
One day the organizational department head of the party committee looked round the guerrilla zone together with the General all day long. He thus went to bed late at night. The next morning he got up to be surprised to see the General chopping firewood after sweeping up the garden early in the morning.
Later, too, the General would help the lady by bringing to the kitchen firewood from the backyard or kindling a fire in the stove in the morning.
Indeed, he devoted his all to the people always regarding himself as their true son.
