Vitality of Dry-field Irrigation Project Fully Demonstrated

True to the decisions of the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), dry-field irrigation projects were pushed ahead with as planned on a full scale across the country. As a result, irrigation facilities which were readjusted and reinforced are operated on normal basis and pay off in farming in many areas.
Sadong District in Pyongyang is providing favorable conditions for growth of crops with the help of the water-sprinkling system on vegetable and wheat fields.
After mapping out a realistic plan to introduce the water-sprinkling method into larger areas, the district pushed ahead with the work stubbornly with every possibility.
It built or repaired 10-odd pumping stations and laid thousands of meters of pipe conduit. Therefore, it ensured a guarantee for minimizing the damage from draught and eliminating the discrimination of crop yields. At present, in the fields with the help of the water-sprinkling system, the humidity of soil suitable for growth of crops are ensured on a scientific basis thus opening up a bright prospect for remarkably increasing the grain output per hectare.
Thaechon County, Usan-ri in Hanggu District, Okdo-ri in Ryonggang County and other rural farms also benefit from new dry-field irrigation facilities.
The reality of the rural communities across the country vividly proves the validity and vitality of our Party’s policy on achieving the sustained and stable development of agricultural production by pushing forward with the work of readjusting, reinforcing and completing the irrigation system and facilities of the country.
