“A world gymnastic movement has come into being”, “very adventurous and stirring movement” and “alarmingly ingenious”...
These are what world media and experts commented on the success of the DPRK’s Ri Se Gwang who perfectly performed original artistic gymnastic movements with high degrees of difficulty at international gymnastics championships in 2012 and 2014.
At the 5th Asian gymnastics championships in China, Ri executed the movement of doing double salto backward with bent knees and changing direction 360 degrees on the vaulting horse, the first ever one in the world, and came first to draw the admiration of experts and spectators.
It is the top-class technical movement which is performed at a fast speed and as a successive and nimble motion from the start run to salto and landing, and the International Gymnastic Federation named it Ri Se Gwang Movement.
Not content with it, Ri trained hard to come up with another new technical movement at the man’s vaulting horse event of the 45th World Artistic Gymnastics Championships two years later.
His new movement of doing double salto forward with the body piked and changing direction 180 degrees caused a great sensation among the world gymnastic circle once again and the FIG registered it as Ri Se Gwang Movement 2.
Later, Ri continuously won gold medals at different international competitions including the 31st Olympic Games and the 46th World Artistic Gymnastics Championships to become Olympic gold medallist and three-time world champion.
Speaking highly of Ri, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un ensured that Korean sportspersons learn from his spiritual world, moral traits and spirit of training.
In the course of growing to be a world gymnastic ace and vaulting horse king, Ri was awarded Kim Jong Il Prize and the titles of Labour Hero and People’s Athlete.
