Agriculture has been considered as the basis of everything and great effort directed to it since ancient times in Korea.

Though the hostile forces continue to impose harsh sanctions and blockade, the world food shortage gets more serious with the passage of time and natural disasters hit the country in succession at present, it can open up an age of comprehensive development of socialism full of courage and confidence when it has a large amount of rice. This is the stand the Workers’ Party of Korea consistently adheres to.

In particular, the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK held at the beginning of this year specified the tasks and ways to definitely put the agricultural production on a stable track of development in the near future and substantially strengthen the political, ideological, material and technical foundations of the rural communities.

The plenary meeting referred to the intention of the Party Central Committee which set the attainment of the grain production goal as the first target of the 12 major goals for the national economic development and the main purpose of the enlarged meeting of the plenary meeting, and set the main goals and tasks for agricultural development.

Now, all farmers have turned out for the immediate rice transplantation full of strong determination and confidence to achieve this year’s grain production goals set forth by the Party without fail.

All sectors and units of the national economy and all the people across the country render positive support to agriculture, keeping in mind the intention of the WPK to increase the country’s agricultural production capacity.

The rice transplantation of this year is an important undertaking to make a breakthrough in achieving the grain production goal set by the Party.

Whether the grain production goal of this year is attained or not largely hinges on whether or not rice-transplanting is finished in quality in time. Rice transplantation is the most important farming process in which its favourable time should not be missed and huge workload should be handled in a short time. Timely and quality rice transplantation makes it possible to increase the per-hectare yield and push forward with the next farming processes including weeding scientifically without deviations.

Therefore, all farmers and other people across the country are out in the campaign to successfully carry out the rice transplantation in the shortest possible time with one mind, carpeting paddy fields with green rice seedlings.
