U.S. Council on Foreign Relations Laments School Shooting Epidemic in U.S.

On May 24, the U.S. Council on Foreign Relations posted an article on its homepage to the effect that school shootings have a daily occurrence in the U.S.
The article continued as follows:
Beyond the damage wrought at home, school shootings are a national security threat, giving a telling blow to U.S. foreign policy and soft power.
Last year, a gunman butchered nineteen students and two teachers at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. Apart from this, a series of bloody shooting incidents occurred at the University of Virginia, Michigan State University, and the Covenant school in Nashville, Tennessee.
The cycle – horrendous violence, a clamor for change, and then steady fading from public view – has been repeated numerous times.
Last June, the U.S. Congress passed a bipartisan gun deal, but the contents were extremely ambiguous.
Meanwhile, each new round of gunfire offers another thundering reminder to American children and young adults that they have been left alone on the frontlines of the U.S. society’s love affair with guns.
The most tragic part is not only that gun-related murder is regarded as utterly unsurprising, but also that the students are utterly prepared for their “fate” of standing before guns.
There is no good reason for U.S. students to comfortably believe they are safe from gun violence.
Students in the United States are now conditioned to believe it is a question of when, not if, they will find themselves the target of a school shooting. Such a reality is a heartbreaking tragedy that gives us a sober lesson.
