Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- A military delegation of the Russian Federation led by Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu arrived here on Tuesday to pay a congratulatory visit to the DPRK on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
Pyongyang International Airport was wrapped up in a warm welcome atmosphere to greet a goodwill mission of the Russian army and people that will significantly contribute to developing on a new high stage the strategic and traditional DPRK-Russia friendly relations, firmly forged on the road of anti-imperialist independence, in keeping with the demand of the times.
Flags of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation were fluttering at the flagstaffs and the guards of honor of the Korean People's Army (KPA) lined up at the station before the terminal.
The delegation was greeted by Kang Sun Nam, minister of National Defence of the DPRK, Jong Kyong Thaek, director of the KPA General Political Bureau, Pak Su Il, chief of the KPA General Staff, and other commanding officers of the Ministry of National Defence, Im Chon Il, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and officers and men of the KPA.
Alexandr Matsegora, Russian ambassador to the DPRK, and staff members of his embassy were at the airport to greet the delegation.
A woman soldier of the KPA presented a bouquet to Sergei Shoigu.
There was a ceremony for welcoming the Russian military delegation.
The national anthems of the Russian Federation and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea were played.
Conducted by Kang Sun Nam, Sergei Shoigu reviewed the KPA guards of honor.
Officers and men of the KPA warmly greeted the Russian military delegation, expressing their militant salute and full support for the Russian army and people who are struggling to defend the sovereign rights and development and interests of their country from the imperialists' high-handed and arbitrary practices and to realize the international justice.
The Russian military delegation headed for lodging quarters amid the warm welcome by officers and men of the KPA. -0-
