Premier Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, made a field survey of various sectors.
Visiting the Taean Heavy Machine Complex, he encouraged its workers in the vigorous struggle to implement the resolutions of plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee and learned in detail about the production of major custom-built equipment.
He stressed the importance of the duty of the complex in developing the country's machine industry, urging it to pushing ahead with the modernization of major equipment and production processes and radically raise the productivity and quality of machine products, mindful that the implementation of the maintenance and reinforcement plan precisely means the revitalization of production.
At the construction sites for second-stage 10 000 flats in the Hwasong area and a new street in the Sopho area, the premier called for operating and guiding the projects in a more scrupulous way to carry them out without fail according to schedule.
He said that efficient building and working methods should be actively introduced to ensure both the construction speed and quality and the interior plastering of houses, construction of public buildings, land leveling and greening should be conducted in a three-dimensional way to successfully complete the construction projects in the period set by the Party and at the level required by the Party.
The field consultative meetings discussed the issue for relevant sectors and units to supply enough equipment and materials needed for the production of custom-built equipment and the housing construction in good time, the issue of paying special attention to living of the builders in keeping with seasonal conditions, etc.
Meanwhile, the premier visited the Pyongyang Construction Machine Plant to decide on the measures for speeding up the manufacture of planned equipment in keeping with the rapid progress of housing construction. Going round the venues of the 11th national exhibition of university scientific research successes and the national exhibition of university educational experimental apparatus and teaching aids, he stressed the need to widely generalize the valuable achievements and experience in science research and educational practice.
