One March day in Juche 64(1975) Chairman Kim JongIl visited the then February 8 Defence Sports Club walking along the path covered withspring snow that fell overnight.
After looking round anewly created training ground, Kim Jong Il saw a player shooting. Theplayer had taken the first place, renewing a world record, at the shootingevent of the 20th Olympic Games. The great leader asked him how manybullets he shot a day.
The player replied heshot 50 to 60 bullets on a daily average. The great leader echoed his answerand referred to the need for all shooters of the sports club to launch a driveto score 1 000 points with 100 bullets. If each of them hit the 10 mark witheach of 100 bullets a day, they would score 1 000 points in all, he said.
The drive to score 1 000points with 100 bullets was an unprecedentedly new, bold and large-scale goalof training.
It was since then thatshooters of the DPRK actively conducted the drive and thus gained good resultsin international competitions.
