Pyongyang, November 17 (KCNA) -- The Mother's Day in the DPRK was a joy thanks to the warm congratulations of all children to mothers who are bringing up the harmonious and happy family and the rosy future of the socialist family.
The Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche, where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il lie in state, was overflowing with all the mothers and their children's boundless yearning for the great leaders.
Many people visited the statues of the great leaders and mosaics depicting their smiling images on Mansu Hill and in different parts of the country to pay floral tribute to them.
Officials of the Central Committee of the women's union and union organizations across the country called at baby homes and orphanages and the houses of women successfully bringing up many children to enjoy the holiday.
Songs of congratulations to mothers were resounded in all parts of the country.
A music and dance performance was given by the Mansudae Art Troupe at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre and a concert by the National Symphony Orchestra at the Moranbong Theatre.
An acrobatic performance was given by artistes of the National Acrobatic Troupe at the Pyongyang Circus Theater.
Artistes of the Phibada Opera Troupe and the National Folk Art Troupe gave performances before the Pyongyang Grand Theatre and at the plaza of the Arch of Triumph.
Artistes and schoolchildren across the country gave congratulatory performances singing of the loving care and affection of the great Mother.
Souvenir shops, flower shops and other places were crowded with children who chose congratulatory cards, beautiful flowers and souvenirs, wishing their mothers always happy and young.
Laughing of mothers and pleasure of their children were also brimming over the cultural and emotional life bases in the capital city of Pyongyang and other parts of the country
