The 53rd sports contest of artistes took place at the Basketball Gymnasium on Chongchun Street in Pyongyang on November 29-30.
Various sports were played such as basketball, volleyball, table tennis, tug of war, Taekwon-Do and ssirum (Korean wrestling) along with amusement games.
The contest was watched by Jo Kyong Jun, deputy department director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, officials, creators, artistes, lecturers, researchers and students in the fields of art and culture and officials concerned.
A march-past of participating units and cheers to rhythmic and lively melodies added to the atmosphere of the contest.
In ball games attracting the attention of spectators, badminton, group running, Taekwon-Do and ssirum matches and various amusement games, the players fully displayed the sports techniques they honed during mass sports activities, strong sense of organization and discipline, noble sportsmanship and fair play.
The cinematic art field won the tug of war, which climaxed the sports contest.
The theatrical art field topped the total rankings at the contest.
