Ushering in new era of national rejuvenation on the strength of self-reliance

The Korean people regard independence and self-respect as their lifeblood.

Thanks to the strenuous efforts of the Korean people who believe in their own strength and build socialism by their own efforts, a new era of national rejuvenation has been ushered in in the DPRK in recent years.

Songhwa and Hwasong streets, the entities of the construction project of 50 000 flats in Pyongyang, were completed, marking a new turning point in the construction of the capital, and a terraced houses district in stylish designs made an imposing appearance along the picturesque Pothong riverside in Pyongyang. A mountain gorge city is springing up in the Komdok area and modern farmhouses are built one after another throughout the country with the City of Samjiyon and the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm village as a model.

The modern local industry factories erected in Kimhwa County, Kangwon Province, present a model for the country’s local industry to spring into life again.

Production has steadily increased in various sectors of the national economy and a series of major construction projects have successfully been completed. The first-stage modernization project of the Kumsong Tractor Factory and the large-scale sodium carbonate production process of the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex were brought to completion, laying a solid foundation for the sustainable and long-term development of the national economy.

The self-defence capabilities of the DPRK, which has defended socialism and bolstered up its war deterrent both in quality and quantity in the face of the imperialists' ceaseless provocations, were fully demonstrated at the military parades for celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Korean People's Army on February 8 2023 and the 70th anniversary of victory in the Fatherland Liberation War on July 27 2023 and the paramilitary parade in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the DPRK on September 9 2023.

All these were not accidents of history nor heaven-sent miracles.

Had they chosen the mode of existence depending on others and the mode of development following others' styles, the Korean people would not have achieved such phenomenal successes.

For independent progress

The Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea elucidated that self-reliance should develop into the national, planned and scientific one in the period of the new long-term plan.

The WPK’s determination and will to step up the comprehensive rejuvenation of the state by national efforts by enlisting the spiritual strength of the people are also embodied in the idea of thoroughly implementing the revolutionary line of independence in state building and activities, the idea of holding fast to self-reliance as the lifeline of self-respect and self-development and the powerful motive force of development, the self-development first idea, the policy of making all people well versed in science and technology, the strategy of readjusting and reinforcing the national economy, the programme for the rural revolution in the new era and others.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un holds the very firm view that it is imperative to build up the strength of the country and develop it by itself from the standpoint of independence in order to defend its sovereignty and dignity and achieve its genuine prosperity.

As he sets self-reliance and the independent national economy as the basis for the existence of socialism, the driving force behind progress and development and the eternal lifeline of the revolution, he gives field guidance to various sectors of the national economy and encourages the working people to give full play to the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance. Whenever he sees the creations of self-reliance and self-development, he is very satisfied and always pleased with them.

As independence and self-sustenance are inconceivable apart from self-defence, he continues his endless and dangerous journey to the frontline to improve the military capabilities and to the firing ranges to develop the country’s strategic forces into the entity of the most powerful and absolute strength and the treasured sword for defending justice and peace.

World-startling successes are being achieved one after another in the DPRK, thanks to the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is dynamically stepping up the building of a powerful socialist nation for the independent development of the country despite all challenges and trials.
