Our Country, Our Motherland

On January 1, Juche 84(1995), Chairman Kim Jong Il said to officials that his ideal and will is to turn our country, our motherland, precious inheritance from President Kim Il Sung, into a people’s paradise and socialist power.

Making our country, our motherland, ever more prosperous--this was his unshakable faith and patriotic will.

Our country, our motherland is the cradle of people’s happiness which President Kim Il Sung founded and defended through the long journey of bloody battles against the Japanese imperialists and U.S. imperialists.

To defend the motherland and turn it into the people’s paradise which can never be found in the world, Chairman Kim Jong Il dedicated all his efforts and made the arduous way of Songun, visiting a lot of units of the Korean People’s Army through dangerous cliffy ways and stormy sea roads.

On his way of Songun, he implanted genuine patriotism into the people’s mind and aroused them to the struggle for building a thriving country.

Indeed, his was a noble life of the great leader who devoted himself to building a prosperous and thriving country on this land.

Believing in People as in Heaven

Scores of years ago, the Chairman sat in company with officials on the anniversary of the DPRK founding.

That day he said to the officials as follows:

If there is an almighty being in the world, it is not God, but the masses of the people. The revolution and construction are for the sake of the people and the revolution and the country are unthinkable without the people.

The Chairman believed in the people as in Heaven.

With this noble outlook on the people, the Chairman made forced march on the people-bound train till the last moments of his life. He devoted his whole life to the people and found his life worth living in his devotion to the people, saying that he would eat at the same table with the people and live under the same roof with the people.

Indeed, no leader in the world but the Chairman found great pleasure in devotion to the people and regarded them as Heaven.

Love Future

We cannot express genuine patriotism without love for posterity.

Chairman Kim Jong Il devoted himself to the work for posterity with ardent patriotism.

Once he said that to live not merely for today but for tomorrow meant that we should love the future and struggle for posterity.

Love the future!

This was the steadfast principle and will of the Chairman who dedicated everything to the work for the future and posterity with the unshakable faith in the prospect of revolution and future.

The Chairman cheerfully made the long way of revolution through difficulties with the great and noble outlook on the future and posterity. His life was the priceless one dedicated to our posterity and eternal future of our country.

Our people always remember his love for and devotion to the future of the country.

If we fail to accomplish something, the rising generations can fill the gaps. But, if we fail to soundly bring up the rising generations, nobody can replenish it, bringing irrevocable and serious results.

The future of the country and revolution depends on how to raise posterity.

Indeed, today and rosy future of our country are guaranteed thanks to the immortal exploits of Chairman Kim Jong Il who beautifully raised the future of the country with the noblest outlook on the rising generations.
