The recent successful launch of the DPRK’s first reconnaissance satellite “Malligyong-1” has yet again fully displayed to the whole world the invincible power and dignity of our State.

This event, which proved beyond doubt the enormous capability of our State, is a grand heroic undertaking to be recorded in the 5,000-year-long history of our nation.

“Malligyong-1” is the precious crystallization of the great devoted efforts of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un . With his outstanding ideology and extraordinary leadership, he showed a shortcut to turning our country into a space power and ensured that the self-respect, prestige and national power of the DPRK be extended to outer space.

In order to reliably defend the safety of the fatherland and for the sake of the eternal dignity and happiness of posterity, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made tireless efforts and devoted his all to blazing the untrodden path of possessing a reconnaissance satellite.

At the historic 8 th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea held in January 2021, he personally initiated the development of a reconnaissance satellite, one of the five major goals for developing the defense power, and set forth a very important task of securing the ability to gather reconnaissance information through the operation of military reconnaissance satellite at the earliest possible date.

In March 2022, he visited the National Aerospace Development Administration (NADA) (at that time). The development of a reconnaissance satellite takes an important share in attaining the five major goals for developing the defense power, he said, and specified once again the strategic significance of the reconnaissance satellite in enhancing the war deterrent of the state and the capability of war preparedness.

He then visited the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground and assigned the tasks for its modern reconstruction and expansion. The tasks include reconstructing and expanding of the launching ground zone and the facilities for the general assembly, trial gearing of rocket and trial gearing of satellite so that large carrier rockets can be launched there; increasing the capacity of engine ground jet test site; and ensuring the convenience of carrier rocket transport.

In April and May this year, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un inspected the NADA and the Non-Permanent Preparatory Committee for Launching Satellites. He reemphasized the role, strategic value and significance of possessing reconnaissance satellites in bolstering up the self-defensive capabilities, and encouraged the officials, scientists and technicians to succeed in the satellite launch.

Such tireless efforts and energetic leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un increased the capability of our national armed force to monitor and distinguish the aggressive acts of the hostile forces and control the situations, and equipped our Republic with another powerful defense means for deterring threats and challenges of all hues and for firmly defending peace.

Under the leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , the peerless brilliant commander born of heaven, our people will, as ever, continue to usher in a new era of national prosperity by turning out in the revolutionary advance for strengthening national power full of confidence in sure victory and strong will.
