The development level of the Narae Ceramic Factory, which is widely known at home along with the trademark of “Narae (wings)”, is drawing public attention.

The factory started its operation with the production of one kind of sanitary ware with several machines in a small building. Today, however, it has become a famous one playing an important part in the country’s building-materials industry. The secret is that it set it as a major goal to develop unique sanitary ware with world competitive edge and strived to attain it.

The factory sets it as a major task to surpass the world advanced level in design, the first stage of production.

To this end, it undertakes an in-depth study of the data on world-famous sanitary ware and starts production only when the relevant designs are superior to them in terms of convenience, practicability, solidity and aesthetics.

Thus advanced designs are constantly created, accompanied by the development of sanitary ware excellent in flowing durability and instant and overall cleaning.

The quality of raw materials is also one of considerably important factors in ensuring that of products.

The production of sanitary ware requires over a dozen kinds of raw materials, including clay, white clay, silica, feldspar and talc and the supply of quality raw materials arises as a vital issue in improving the quality of products as the factory has to produce such products in large quantities a year.

So technicians of the factory travelled different areas of the country to explore for quality raw materials while studying a large number of technical documents related to geology.

Based on the fields of various kinds of such raw materials discovered by them, the factory makes a detailed analysis of their components to prevent any possible changes of technical processes.

It also upgrades the management method in a bold manner while attaching importance to figures and calculating profits in a scientific way.

As detailed assignment systems according to varieties is in force in pattern, raw material, moulding and all other workteams, their employees’ responsibility and technical knowledge and skills are raised with the passage of time and the actual yield of products is ensured at over 90 percent.

The factory always directs efforts to the development of new products, with the result that the indices of popular products have reached more than 40 kinds, including a variety of toilet bowls, washbasins and sinks.

Its production capacity has increased over 30 times as against that in the early years of its operation and four kinds of its products were awarded the December 15 Medal of Quality, the top quality medal of the country.

The factory has recently been equipped with the processes for the production of metal fittings and plastic parts to produce taps and water barrels.

It has contributed to the prosperity and development of the country by ensuring in a responsible manner the production and supply of building materials needed for the construction of major projects including Changjon, Songhwa and Hwasong streets over the past 10-odd years. It has been selected as one of the top ten enterprises this year.
