Wife of Officer, Mother of Officers

Kim Kyong Ok, wife of an officer of the Korean People’s Army (KPA), lives in Kangso-dong, Kanggye City; her four sons also serve as KPA officers.

Whenever people praise Kim calling her a genuine patriot, she says to them that as a woman of this country, it is very happy to devote herself to the husband and children.

With such a lofty aspiration, she has striven to bring up her children creditably while supporting her husband for tens of years.

She was very pleased whenever seeing the figures of the children growing into the respectable officers.

Behind the soldiers reliably defending the motherland, there are fine mothers who regard the national defence as the supreme patriotism and devote all to that.

"Department Head" of Educator Family

Among the participants of the 5th National Conference of Mothers was Dr. and Associate Prof. Kim Jin Suk who has devoted herself to the education for rising generation as a department head in Pyongyang University of Medicine for 30-odd years.

She explored new subjects in the field of rehabilitation treatment and wrote many textbooks and reference books to achieve valuable educational and scientific research successes in large numbers.

What astonished the people more was that her husband and two daughters, too, have engaged as the teachers in the same university with Kim.

A participant in the conference with Kim said with a smile that Kim is a competent department head but a strict "department head" in her family.

Indeed, reflected in her saying was Kim’s lofty devotion striving to put her husband forward as an excellent educator and bring up her daughters as educators.

Proud Family Consisting of Basketball Players

The family of Kim Sun Nyo living in Janghun-dong No.1, Mangyongdae District is being called a family consisting of basketball players among the villagers.

In reality, her husband and all children play basketball.

Now Kim’s husband is working as a coach in the Amnokgang Sports Team and in his young days, he won many medals and cups in the international and domestic games.

Kim also was active as an able basketball player and captain in her girlhood. And her two sons and daughters-in-law, too, are sportspersons loving basketball.

Whenever the villagers praise them saying that all of her family members are inborn talents of basketball, she habitually says that they are not gifted talents and her family members could be basketball players only under the bosom of the grateful motherland.

Kim pledged in the venue of the conference to add luster to the call the "genuine patriotic family" and "excellent sports family" by highly demonstrating the honor of the motherland in the future, too.
