Pyongyang City rally was held at the May Day Stadium on the 5th to thoroughly implement the decisions of the Ninth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Present at the rally were officials, working people and youth and students in Pyongyang City.
The rostrum was taken by Kim Tok Hun, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and Vice-President of the State Affairs Commission and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and other senior officials of the Party and government, officials in the city and labour innovators.
Kim Su Gil, Alternate Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and Chief Secretary of the Pyongyang Municipal Party Committee, made a report.
He said the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sent warm thanks to the members of the whole Party, the people across the country and the service personnel of the entire army who made contribution to achieving remarkable successes in 2023 with loyalty and patriotism.
He noted that last year the Korean people demonstrated the national strength and prestige of the powerful and dignified Juche Korea all over the world and made a tangible progress and leap forward under the leadership of the great Party Central Committee. He stressed that all the successes achieved by them are a clear proof of the validity and vitality of the fighting programme of the Eighth Congress of the WPK on winning a great new victory by remarkably increasing their own strength in socialist construction.
2024 is a decisive year of confirming the victory in hitting the fighting goal set by the Eighth Party Congress by heightening the offensive spirit on all fronts of socialist construction, the reporter said and ardently called on all to struggle vigorously for the overall prosperity of Korean-style socialism and for new change and brilliant development of the beloved capital Pyongyang in firm unity around the Party Central Committee.
Then, speeches were made.
A letter of pledge to Kim Jong Un was adopted amid the enthusiastic applause of the participants.
The rally was followed by a mass demonstration.
