Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- A meeting of Pyongyang citizens took place on January 5 to vow to carry through the resolutions of the 9th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

Present in the meeting held at the May Day Stadium were officials, working people, youth and students in Pyongyang Municipality.

Taking the platform of the meeting were Premier Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, and Ri Il Hwan, Jon Hyon Chol, Pak Jong Gun, Ju Chol Gyu, Pak Hun and other senior Party and government officials and officials and labor innovators in the municipality.

Kim Su Gil, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and chief secretary of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the WPK, made a report.

The reporter said with excitement that the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sent greetings of warm thanks to the members of the entire Party, all the people and service personnel of the whole army who contributed to adorning 2023 with successes of loyalty and patriotism, overcoming all sorts of difficulties and hardships with the firm trust in our cause and the indomitable spirit.

All the successes we have achieved clearly prove the validity and vitality of the programme for struggle set forth at the 8th WPK Congress on remarkably increasing the internal strength of socialist construction to achieve a great new victory, he stressed.

He noted that the Party members and other working people in the capital city made a great contribution to demonstrating once again the might of loyalty and single-minded unity of the people absolutely trusting and supporting the Party Central Committee by successfully ensuring the celebrations of the 75th birthday of the Korean People's Army, the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War and the 75th founding anniversary of the DPRK.

2024 is a decisive year for further raising the offensive spirit on all fronts of socialist construction to determine the successful implementation of the goals of struggle set forth by the 8th Party Congress, the reporter said, stressing the need to concentrate all efforts on the attainment of the 12 major goals of key importance in developing the economy and improving the people's living standard in the new year, too, with the spirit of self-support and self-reliance, indomitable stamina and high confidence to provide a clear practical guarantee for the fulfillment of the five-year plan.

He ardently called upon all the people to vigorously strive for the overall prosperity of Korean-style socialism and fresh turn and brilliant development of Pyongyang, the beloved capital city, united closer around the Party Central Committee.

The speeches expressed the revolutionary enthusiasm and unshakable will to glorify this year as a year of another great change in the history of the country with the spirit of the new era and the Chollima spirit of the new era under the slogan "Unite with patriotism!"

A letter of pledge to Kim Jong Un was adopted in the meeting.

Then followed a demonstration.

The columns of workers, agricultural workers, intellectuals, builders and youth and students marched the venue of the meeting, holding such placards as "Let us dynamically usher in a new era of overall national prosperity, united as one around the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un!" and "Let us thoroughly implement the resolutions of the 9th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee!" and Party flag, national flag of the Republic and red flags.

The atmosphere was revved up with lively singing and dynamic dance rhythms of the columns of students' brass bands and women's union squads for rush-hour agitprop activities.
