The General Association of Koreans in China held functions to celebrate the 82nd anniversary of the birth of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

The General Association of Koreans in China, the Association of Korean Women in China, the Association of Young Korean Nationals in China, the Jilin City branch of the Jilin Regional Association of the GAKC, the Zhongnan Regional Association of the GAKC, the Dandong City branch of the Liaoning Regional Association of the GAKC, the family of Hwang Paek Ha, a China-resident Korean related to the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, and the family of Hong Yong Sun, former deputy chief of the Jilin Regional Association, laid baskets of flowers at the statue of President Kim Il Sung at Yuwen Middle School in Jilin and the portraits of smiling Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and the artworks depicting them at the DPRK embassy in Beijing and the DPRK missions in Shenyang and Dandong and made a deep bow to them.

The GAKC held a celebration meeting on February 16.

Present there were Choe Un Bok, chairwoman of the GAKC, and its senior officials, members of the Federation of Korean Economic Workers in China and the Association of Young Korean Nationals in China, officials of the Liaoning Regional Association of the GAKC and members of the regional association’s Shenyang City branch.

She said that Chairman Kim Jong Il was a benevolent father and great teacher who had never forgotten overseas compatriots but shown all kinds of paternal love and care for them till the last moments of his life.

Under the wise guidance of the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un, world-startling miraculous successes have been brought about in succession in all fields of the homeland, including politics, the economy, military affairs and culture, instilling in its people and overseas compatriots the faith in and optimism about sure victory of socialism, she said, calling on all the participants to contribute to the prosperity and development of the country by remaining faithful to the leadership of the respected Marshal.

Then followed a celebratory performance and a banquet.

Officials and members of the GAKC saw a documentary film dealing with the immortal revolutionary career and exploits of Kim Jong Il on February 15.

Meanwhile, a variety of celebration events were held, including film shows, round-table talks and oath-taking meetings, by the Yanbian and Mudanjiang regional associations of the GAKC, the Changbai County branch of the Jilin Regional Association, the Harbin City branch of the Harbin Regional Association and other affiliated organizations.
