The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the renovated Pyongyang Teachers Training College on January 16, Juche 107 (2018).
He acquainted himself in detail with the work of the college and praised it for having made remarkable achievements in the scientific research work, saying that over the years the teaching staff have compiled a lot of textbooks in an effort to implement the universal 12-year compulsory education programme and introduced an educational prediction technology so as to ensure a scientific lecture with the main emphasis on helping students think independently.
It was a good idea to direct all educational and administrative work to arousing the students’ passion for learning and improving their academic performance, he noted. He watched lessons taught in simulation and actual situations respectively and spoke highly of them as original and distinctive.
He expressed satisfaction with the method of judging whether the students met the teacher’s standards and other methods adopted for classrooms designed to combine school and home education, saying they were all superior teaching methods.
He was so pleased with the renovation of the college that he said he felt as if he had plucked a star from the sky and provided a “golden cushion” for the educators in charge of the future of the country, adding that the rosy future of the country was in sight.
Our Party attaches great importance to the college, he said, adding that we should prepare all educators to be competent lecturers to whom any parents could entrust their children.
Just as a sapling needs sufficient nutrition and sunlight to grow to be timber, children need to receive good education from the stage of primary education to grow up to be talents who will shoulder the future of the country.
At the Ninth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea he called for making the contents and methods of education more concrete, diverse and practical, particularly by applying research-oriented teaching and studying methods to major-related subjects, and for making 2024 a year of greater changes in the efforts to draw our education up to the level of the advanced nations.
