Premier Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea and vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, made a field survey of the agricultural sector in North and South Hwanghae provinces.
Going round various farms in Suan, Koksan, Pongchon, Paechon, Yonan and Chongdan counties, the premier encouraged the agricultural workers in accelerating the immediate farming out of the mind to uphold the Party's agricultural policy with rich harvest and stressed once again the importance of the position and role of the agricultural provinces in attaining the grain production goal this year.
He urged the agricultural guidance organs at all levels to properly organize farming according to the farming period on the basis of last year's successes and experience and take foresighted economic and practical measures for settling the knotty problems, and the agricultural production units to concentrate efforts on manuring and cultivating crops in a scientific and technological way.
He called for ensuring the growth conditions of wheat, barley and other earlier crops and actively introducing advanced rice-seedling cultivation method and stepping up the work to reinforce and perfect the irrigation system such as enhancing the capacity of pumping equipment to minimize the effects of drought, high temperature and other disastrous weather conditions. He also stressed the need to raise the operation rate of farm machines so as to strictly carry out the plans for the spring farming processes as scheduled.
Earlier, the premier reviewed the process of construction of the Kangwon Provincial General Hospital on the spot and discussed and took measures to solve the problems arising in it.
