Recently, the U.S. issued the “foreign trade barrier evaluation report 2024”, in which it included China in the list of states to be closely watched. In relation to this, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce of China clarified the stand of opposing and rejecting it.
The spokesperson said that the U.S., without producing any evidence that relevant policies and methods of China go against the regulations of the WTO, groundlessly takes issue with China saying that “non-market” policy and method and barrier to its policy related to agricultural products and information exist in China.
He also denounced the U.S. for unilaterally imposing additional tariffs on other countries in defiance of multilateral trade rules insisting on “America first” policy. He also said the U.S. is misusing other measures on export control and investment restrictions under the pretext of “national security”.
In conclusion, the spokesperson stressed that the U.S. should stop groundless criticism against other countries and strictly observe the regulations of the WTO.
