The Chinese permanent representative to the United Nations, at a UN Security Council meeting on April 18, denounced the US for having exercised its veto against a resolution on Palestine’s application for the full membership of the UN.
The argument of the US that questioned Palestine’s peace-loving nature is as good as rubbing salt into the wounds of Palestinian people and is a great insult to them who have experienced all manner of suffering of occupation, he said.
In the past 13 years, a lot of changes happened in the situation of Palestine and the most fundamental thing of them is that Jewish settlements have constantly been expanded in the West Bank, the space for survival of the Palestinians has ceaselessly contracted and the foundation of “two-state proposal” has been eroded, he asserted.
The US connived at it, even left the situation to go to its own course and is now questioning the ruling capability of Palestine, he said, adding that it is based on a gangster logic mixing up right and wrong.
He noted that it has become a more urgent issue than ever before to admit Palestine as a full member of the UN and that all the countries sincerely supporting the “two-state proposal” should not oppose its full membership.
