“Until a few years ago, our factory had been exclusively doing bonded processing of garments. But now we are branching out by developing new products.” said Pak Ran Hui, chief of the technical preparation office of the Tongdaewon Aeguk Knitwear Factory.
The main target of the factory’s effort is to make each product a popular one favoured by the people by using the same materials.
The factory holds a collective critique of new product models twice a week, and all the workteams are eagerly taking part in them.
The employees are broadening their horizons as they try to identify the development trend of knitwear and the people’s likings through the sci-tech learning space and while carefully observing the attire of people they encounter on different occasions of daily life.
On the basis of this, they bring out new designs according to seasons by setting the sizes and selecting the knitting textures and methods in their own way and apply them to production.
As a result, something new and fresh comes out in every collective critique and, in the course of this, the employees’ understanding about quality has been improved along with their technical skills.
The factory’s products have attracted the attention of experts at several national exhibitions and become sought-after ones.
Especially, a knitted women’s coat was an immediate eye-catcher at the Women’s Clothes Show-2022.
Several products of the factory including a two-colour men’s sweater and women’s sweaters decorated with the national flag and peacock patterns were highly appreciated at the light industry goods exhibition “Light Industry Development-2023” and the Autumn Clothes Show-2023 held last year.
The factory also produces uniforms for primary school pupils.
As the variety of uniform sizes was increased from 10 to 70 this year, it drew up detailed technical process guidelines for each size and gave technical training to machine operators to produce quality sweaters for men and women by ensuring the density of the knitwear.
“If we became self-conceited and slacked off, we would fall behind in no time. We are now working on a research project for producing knitwear made of natural fibre yarns to keep up with the worldwide trend,” said manager Kim Nam Il.
