General experimental education hall inaugurated at Kim Chaek University of Technology

An integrated experimental education hall has been built at Kim Chaek University of Technology, a “pedigree” establishment for the training of scientific and technical personnel of the country.
Its opening ceremony took place on April 14.
The construction of a comprehensive experimental and practical base for the education and scientific research of lecturers and researchers and study of students has further enhanced the appearance of the university as the highest institute of education in science and technology of the country, said Paek Chon Il, deputy chief of the instruction department.
With a total building area of more than 5 100 square metres, the integrated experimental education hall has 25 labs including the geological prospecting, rolling process, polymer chemistry, nuclear power plant operating, nano-materials and aerospace engineering laboratories and they are provided with advanced experimental equipment.
According to Ri Kyong Chol, an academic adviser at the FMS lab, the laboratory is equipped with a three-axis machining centre, general control board, six-joint robot used in industrial field, visual inspection device, three-dimensional scanner and carts. In the lab students write programs for building unmanned and automated FMS processes and experience its operation to improve their practical ability in the field.
When they reach a certain grade, students will perform all kinds of experiments related to those in their majors in the integrated experimental education hall according to the curricula, and through this course they will acquire a wide range of knowledge and practical abilities over the whole industry.
During experiments, students will choose experiment titles and the plans for experimentation by themselves and analyze the results and write reports through active experiments and practical training and academic advisers evaluate the performance of students through debate, assessment of reports and operating practice exams.
The hall is aimed at training more talents with creative and practical abilities who are comprehensively qualified to shoulder the building of a powerful socialist country, said Hong Chung Bok, chief of the experimental education hall.
