A spokesman for the Iranian foreign ministry strongly denounced Canada for its hostile behaviour toward his country on May 11.
The House of Representatives of Canada recently adopted a resolution calling for adding the Iranian Islamic Revolution Guards Corps to the list of “terrorist organizations”, which the spokesman denounced as an act of violating Iran’s sovereignty and national security and a reckless move which runs counter to the principles of international law on equality of sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs.
He said that the IIRGC, like other Iranian armed forces, is responsible for defending national security and borders and fighting against terrorism which threatens the sustainable security of the region.
Iran will respond to Canada’s acts of violating international law and opposing the Iranian government and people in a proper and equal way, he said.
