The flames of the Chollima spirit in the new era, which was created at the Ryongsong Machine Complex, are encouraging all the people across the country to make greater innovations in implementing the decisions of the Ninth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

This spirit is the feeling of loyalty with which to implement the WPK’s plans and intentions without any condition, a sense of patriotism with which to make continuous innovations and advance and thereby bring about national rejuvenation and development at the earliest possible date and the will of self-reliance and fortitude to create everything with their own efforts and science and technology by putting an end to flunkeyism, defeatism, mysticism about technology and proclivity to import.

The country was faced with a task of providing modern machinery and equipment needed for readjusting and reinforcing large-scale fertilizer production bases two years ago.

At a crossroads of whether to import them with a huge amount of money or to produce them by domestic efforts, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un assigned the task of manufacturing large-scale compressors to the working people in Ryongsong and took necessary measures.

The whole complex turned out as one to live up to his expectation that Ryongsong would surely carry it out.

Officials, technicians and workers of the complex cast a main workpiece weighing over 20 tons based on a combustion pattern and applied valuable sci-tech successes to production, including a tool they developed to improve the processing speed by over three times more than before.

In the course of this, the complex broke the old practice of building a large compressor in one full year and made different kinds of large compressors comprising tens of thousands of parts in thousands of kinds in less than a year, while manufacturing a large number of custom-built equipment pieces.

During his visit to the complex in November last year, General Secretary Kim Jong Un expressed satisfaction with the fact that its workers, scientists and technicians redoubled the confidence in their own efforts and sci-tech abilities and dealt a telling blow to defeatism and mysticism about technology. Highly appreciating that the heroic tradition of devotedly implementing the Party’s policies is continuously carried on, he named the fighting spirit displayed by the working people in Ryongsong the Chollima spirit in the new era, a new spirit of the times.

At the Ninth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK, he highly appreciated the heroic feats of workers of the complex who made unprecedented innovations by turning the production of machines entrusted by the Party Central Committee into the process of creating the second Chollima spirit, a mass-based technical innovation drive, and put forward their fighting spirit as a model to be copied by the whole country.

It is the intention of the WPK to carry out the five-year plan set at the Eighth Party Congress while making a great leap forward for the overall development of the country on the strength of the Chollima spirit in the new era created in Ryongsong, just like the torch of great upsurge kindled at the then Kangson Steel Works (today’s Chollima Steel Complex) last century gave birth to the Chollima movement, resulting in the establishment of the socialist system.

At present, the working people in Ryongsong are putting spurs to the development of the complex into a standard and model of modernization and achieving good results in the production of custom-built equipment during the term of the Eighth Party Central Committee.

They turned out more than 100 high-performance compressors in the past first quarter of the year and sent them to coal mines and are now striving to fulfil the task of producing compressors without fail in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, working people in all the economic sectors are struggling to create assets of self-reliance as they ask themselves if they are working and living like the workers of Ryongsong.
