One day last year when the housing construction for the 10 000 flats of second-stage in the Hwasong area was in full swing, officials of the company looked round the worksites deep in thought.

At that time they were racking their brains for finding the cause why the company ranked last, though there were little differences from others in working conditions.

And they decided to put efforts into suffusing the company with the collective spirit helping and leading each other forward.

Firstly they took the lead in the campaign; they took measures beforehand for relieving employees’ household anxiety and prepared wedding receptions for young people.

After knowing that there were the children of the employees among the soldier-builders engaged in the housing construction, they visited the soldiers with the aid materials they prepared to give strength and courage to them.

Meanwhile, also the family members of the employees formed the family platoon and devoted their sweats to the construction.

Now the officials and builders of the company make signal successes in carrying out their tasks.

Why They Turned Back on Their Way Home

The following happened at the pulverized coal workshop of the Sangwon Cement Complex a few days ago.

The members of the coal work-team who were on their way home saw those of the repair work-team rushing back toward their worksite.

They then noticed that something went wrong with a piece of equipment at the workshop and that was why the members of the repair work-team turned back. The fact weighed heavy on their minds.

They worried that the members of the repair work-team might not repair the equipment on their own in time because it was bulky and massive.

When they arrived at the worksite, those of the repair work-team persuaded them to return home.

But they buckled down to work, saying that it was natural for members of the same workshop to help each other.

As a matter of fact, all the members of the workshop, who had heard the news, turned back on their way home and arrived at the spot.

Some problems arose in the repair process but they solved them one by one by pooling wisdom and efforts. Women employees prepared special foods for those who were burning the midnight oil, thus encouraging them a great deal.

Consequently, the repair was finished a lot earlier than expected.

The members of the workshop deeply realized once again that everything goes well when they regard the affairs of the workshop as those for their own sake and turn out of their own accord.

Unusual Emulation

This is what happened some days ago among builders of Battalion No. 2 of the Hamju County Construction Brigade.

One of the officers of the battalion was looking round the construction site early in the morning, when he found the construction result of Platoon No. 2 had jumped in a single night. He was so surprised because the platoon had been far behind others until the previous day. Only when he heard the reason from the builders of the platoon, he realized what happened during the night.

On the previous day, Platoon No. 1 was highly appreciated at the summing-up meeting as it led others in construction. However, its leader Pak Myong Bok felt uneasy. It was because he got to know that Platoon No. 2 had trouble as it lacked skilled builders.

He suggested to his members, who were eager to take the first place in the monthly socialist emulation, that they help Platoon No. 2.

Thus, the members of Platoon No. 1 helped those of Platoon No. 2 to complete the construction task at a dash that night and even tidied up the surroundings for the following day’s work before heading toward their lodging.

Better still, Platoon No. 1 members secured tools for other platoons and took warm care of recruits’ life.

New innovations are made day after day in the construction site of rural dwelling houses amid such unusual emulations in which everyone shares the same will in their efforts to uphold the Party’s plan of rural construction.
