Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- To fulfil the important tasks set forth at the 10th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, all the officials, Party members and other working people turned out in the struggle for the second half of the year to provide a practical guarantee for carrying out the five-year plan in the same spirit as was displayed in fulfilling their national economic plans for the first half with a single mind to open up an upturn of comprehensive efflorescence by upholding the plan and determination of the Workers’ Party of Korea with their whole mind and all their power.

Workers in the field of metal industry are increasing the steel production, buoyed up by their fulfillment of the national rolling steel production plan for the first half of the year at 131 percent.

Those of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, which finished the production of iron plate to be sent to the construction sites of regional-industry factories and set the highest record in Juche iron-based rolled steel production, are effecting uninterrupted innovations and leaps forward.

In the first half of the year those of the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex produced molten iron 1.2 times as great as last year. They continue to make dynamic progress.

The Chollima Steel Complex is increasing the iron and steel production to be supplied to different sectors and the Posan Iron Works is concentrating its efforts on readjustment and reinforcement after producing over 6 700 accessories and materials of 60-odd kinds by its own efforts.

The Musan Mining Complex has removed one million and hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of earth by raising the operation rate of equipment. The Hungnam Electrode Factory, Puryong Ferroalloy Factory, Unryul Mine, Jaeryong Mine, Hungsan Mine and other mines are also taking practical measures to boost the productivity.

The Namhung Youth Chemical Complex and the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex in the field of chemical industry are increasing the fertilizer production.

The February 8 Vinalon Complex has increased the production of caustic soda, plastic resin and vinalon, and the Sinuiju Chemical Fibre Mill, the Chongjin Chemical Fibre Mill and the Myonggan Chemical Factory have modernized their equipment and increased the variety of products.

The power industry, which carried out the national first half yearly electricity production plan, pushes ahead with the projects for creating new generating capacity, including the first-stage construction of the Tanchon Power Station, and took measures to scientifically and technologically ensure the increased production of electricity.

Meanwhile, the national coal production plan has been carried out at 107 percent in the first half of the year. The coal producers on the forefront of self-supporting economy development continue to increase the production in the spirit of a new era.

The machine-building industry is providing custom-built equipment to major industrial bases in a responsible manner and the mining industry fulfilled the national nonferrous metal production plan by 115 percent in the first half of the year. The number of the units that fulfilled their plans is on the increase.

Workers in the field of railway transport are working hard in high spirits after carrying out their freight transport plan at 108 percent in the first half of the year.

Workers in the forestry sector have fulfilled their national plan for the first half of the year at 104 percent and workers in the building-materials industry have fulfilled their national cement production plan at 104 percent.

The construction sector is seething with the efforts for performing new miracles.

Builders involved in the construction of 10 000 flats at the third stage in the Hwasong area almost completed the framework project in the main and stepped up the interior and exterior work. People in the countryside move into new houses almost every day and this proves that a heyday of civilization in the new era has been ushered in socialist rural areas.

The construction of regional-industry factories in 20 cities and counties is progressing at an amazing speed, thanks to the struggle of officers and men of the 124th Regiments of the Korean People's Army (KPA), and preparations are being made to ensure their normal operation in different parts of the country.

Innovations are also being made in the sectors directly related to the people's living.

The huge irrigation projects for paddy and non-paddy fields across the country have been completed ahead of schedule and projects for improving rivers, repairing embankments and reinforcing sea dikes also completed nationwide.

The nationwide wheat and barley harvest has been finished thanks to high enthusiasm of the agricultural workers across the country.

Rice-transplanting has been completed in the right season and efforts are directed to minimizing damage by various natural disasters in rural areas.

The number of spinning and weaving workers who fulfilled their first half-yearly plans in the textile industry is increasing, and the workers of the school uniform production units finished the first and second-stage tasks for this year's school uniform production.

The fishery sector is now striving to attain the goal of this year's fishing production.

Fishermen of the fishing units in the East and West Seas are making big fish hauls by waging a dynamic fishing campaign, while applying various scientific fishing methods in different weather conditions.

The aquaculture sector has also boosted the production of seaweed and shellfish

The remarkable achievements made in socialist construction clearly prove once again that nothing can block the heroic advance of the Korean people, firmly united around the Party Central Committee with patriotism and developed in the spirit of a new era, the Chollima spirit in the new era. -0-
