Over 578 000 kilometers -- it is the total distance of the field guidance route taken by President Kim Il Sung for the country and the people just from the country’s liberation to the last period of his great life.
These numbers make our people recollect the President’s image who left sacred traces of field guidance in every nook and corner of the country.
There can be heard touching stories telling his ceaseless devotion in every part of the country ranging from the northern tip of the country to the remote islands of the west sea.
On a Sunday in Sept. Juche 58(1969), officials tried to persuade the President to have a rest just half a day; however he said that he had never rested at home on Sundays, adding that though he had been too busy with work to frequently go to the spot in common days, he wanted to go to even a near place on a Sunday to acquaint himself with the realities and meet the people.
And the President left the traces of devotion for the country’s prosperity and the people’s happiness while visiting 10-odd units all day long on other Sunday.
The hours of Sundays and holidays he passed thus till the last period of his great life are equivalent to almost seven years.
Our people still remember numberless revolutionary anecdotes associated with the days of field guidance given by the President such as visiting a mountain village in the northern part of the country while pushing his car in person, having a lunch on a train after looking round various farm fields and going into a face exposing himself to water dripping from the ceiling to meet the miners.
His great devotion continued until the last days of his lofty revolutionary career.
Over 578 000 Kilometers,
Indeed, the distance was an epitome of the President’s lifetime for the country and the people.
The history of his devotion and pains will be handed down generation after generation along with the history of Kim Il Sung’s nation and Kim Jong Il’s Korea led by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
