Young Fish and Fry Released in DPRK

Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- Fish farming units in North Phyongan Province of the DPRK have stocked rivers, lakes and reservoirs with more than 1.8 billion young fish and fry this year. Thaechon County raised the number of young fish by creating spawning grounds and released them into rivers, lakes and reservoirs in the county. Tongchang County laid a material and technical foundation for producing fry from this year by adapting chars to the local waters. The Cholsan County Breed-fish Station has raised the technical knowledge and skills of its employees and introduced an efficient hatching method, thus registering a high result in the production of fry. Working people in Tongrim County raised the survival rate of fry by keeping scientific and technological requirements to suit the species of fish and the stage of fish growth. The Yomju Youth Fish Farm produced more than 800,000 fry by applying advanced technology and method for fish farming. Similar successes have been made in Kujang and Unsan counties.
