Sok Ok I, Merited Needle Worker

Sok Ok I is the head of the technical preparation room of the Kanggye Unha Garment Factory.

After graduating from the then professional school, she was assigned to work at the factory.

Since then, she has served at the factory for nearly40 years.

It is not easy to work in one worksite and one occupation for long period, however she feels the pride of supporting the intention of the Party which gives attention to solving the problem of people’s clothing.

With this pride, she strove to master the facilities and equipment while learning the skills of making clothes from veteran skilled workers.

When she was enrolled in the study-while-working system, she studied hard to improve her technique.

She devoted her efforts to every dress design and product cherishing deep in mind the Party’s loving care for the people.

Ten-odd years ago, Chairman Kim Jong Il personally saw several kinds of garments at the sample display room of the factory and commended the factory for making them well.

She could not sleep easily after being told about that; because her effort was also devoted to those garments.

Until now, she has introduced many technical innovations in production and trained tens of skilled workers.

In Oct. 2004, she received the title of the Merited Needle Worker, and now she devotes her wisdom and efforts to her work with enthusiasm for contributing to the normalization of production as intended by the Party.

Jon Yong Gwang, Merited Electrician

Jon Yong Gwang, the head of construction corps No.2 under a transmission line laying station, has contributed to building thousands of transmission steel towers in different parts of the country.

One day about 40 years ago, he was excited at seeing the movie "Eagles on the Hill", which shows the pride of transmission line layers who seek their happiness in the work for creating wealth of the country.

Then, he decided to be a respectable transmission line layers like the lead of the movie.

However, it was difficult to live up to his determination.

When he was involved in the work for laying transmission lines for the first time, he could not carry out his assigned task because of his poor skill but could do with the help of a veteran worker.

After that he studied hard in practice to improve his technical skills while reading in books and learning from veteran workers.

His endeavors bore fruits; after a few years, he became a skilled worker and was decorated with a merit medal for discharging his duty with a sense of responsibility.

In those days of devoting his all to the prosperity of motherland, he was awarded a citation of Chairman Kim Jong Il, and the title of the Merited Electrician in April, 2012; and he became the owner of a new dwelling house in Kyongru-dong.

Now he continues to go along the loyal and patriotic road with enthusiasm for repaying the benevolent Party which holds ordinary workers such as him in high social esteem.

Kim Chan Song, Merited Coalminer

Kim Chan Song is a company commander of the Kangdong Coal Mine under the Kangdong Area Coal Mining Complex.

Officials and colliers of the complex say that Kim is a hard worker.

It has been over 40 years since he was assigned to work at the coal mine after his middle school graduation.

When he became a coalminer, his father, being very pleased, earnestly requested him to be a true coalminer who strives to lighten the burdens of the Party.

Remembering the request, he never left his worksite before carrying out his daily task.

After years, he became a primary official.

He has always overfulfilled the production plan in spite of bad conditions by introducing rational mining methods and managing facilities in a responsible manner.

He has studied hard without wasting time to present several technical innovation schemes and contributed to training tens of newcomers as skilled workers.

In Feb. 2022, the country awarded the title of Merited Coalminer to him for his labor exploits.

Now he devotes his all to increasing coal production with determination to repay the Party’s trust.
