Premier Kim inspects Chollima Steel Complex, flood-hit areas of North Phyongan Province

Premier Kim Tok Hun, who is also member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, inspected the Chollima Steel Complex to learn about its production.
Going round various production processes, he encouraged officials and workers who work hard to bring about a surge in production in the spirit of self-reliance and fortitude in order to implement the decisions of the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee.
He referred to the need for officials to organize and direct production in a scrupulous way, always bearing in mind the trust of the Party which puts forward the metallurgical industry as the “eldest son” industry of the country, and produce more iron and steel by further raising the capacity and operation rate of the existing equipment to timely send it to the reconstruction sites of the afflicted areas and other construction projects.
In the flood-hit areas of Sinuiju City and Uiju County in North Phyongan Province, he said that officials should fulfil their responsibility and duty in providing the flood victims with proper living conditions true to the noble intention of the Party, and in particular pay special attention to the health care of the people and take thorough medical care and anti-epidemic measures.
He called for working out the plan for the reconstruction of flood-hit areas strictly as intended by the Party and rapidly completing the designs according to areas and sections at the highest level.
The field consultative meetings discussed the issue of intensifying the planning and command for the supply of raw materials and their transport as the iron and steel output increases, the issue of enhancing the contacts and cooperation between the central and local design offices in the reconstruction and the issue of correctly making scientific and technical calculations for giving precedence to the design of the infrastructure and finishing it by accelerating it, before taking appropriate steps.
