Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sent a reply message to Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and president of the People's Republic of China, on September 15.

The message said:

I express thanks to you for extending sincere congratulations on the occasion of the 76th birthday of the DPRK.

It is the common desire of the peoples of the two countries to steadily consolidate and develop the DPRK-China friendship with a long historical tradition.

I am convinced that good results will be continuously made in accomplishing the common cause of the two parties and countries for dynamically promoting socialist construction, providing the peoples with substantial well-being and safeguarding the global peace and the regional security.

I wish the Chinese people greater success in building a modern socialist country this significant year marking the 75th birthday of the People's Republic of China under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with you, general secretary, as its core.
