Pyongyang, September 30 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un , general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, gave field guidance over the rehabilitation projects in the flood-hit areas in North Phyongan Province on September 29.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was accompanied by Jo Yong Won and Ri Il Hwan, secretaries of the C.C., the WPK, and Kim Yong Bok, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army.

He was greeted by commanding officers of the military units involved in the rehabilitation projects in relevant regions on the spot.

Looking a map showing the bird's eye view of the residential quarters to be newly built, he learned in detail about the progress made in the construction.

He highly appreciated the efforts of all the builders who are achieving fresh innovative successes day by day, bearing in mind the patriotic appeal to make redoubled efforts for the prosperity of our great state.

He repeatedly stressed that it is the most urgent task facing the Party and the government at present to alleviate the pain of the flood victims as early as possible and restore the production and living order in the flood-hit areas to the normal level. And he said that all the builders should complete the housing construction on the highest level in the shortest time by directing redoubled efforts and sincerity to provide the people in the flood-hit areas with houses for happy living.

He once again asked for putting primary efforts to thoroughly ensuring the quality of the construction as the rehabilitation of the flood-hit areas is not merely an issue of removing the aftermath of natural disaster but an important process of implementing the Party's far-reaching programme for regional development.

He said that every edifice representing the era of changes reflects our ideology, policy and aesthetic perspective and thus the construction is a visual expression of politics. He stressed the need for all the builders to thoroughly keep the requirements of design and construction methods and wage a strong struggle in time, never conniving at a slightest practice of neglecting quality improvement, bearing in mind that to ensure the quality of construction precisely means the exact implementation of the Party's policies and an important political issue of deepening the people's trust in the Party.

He went round the construction site of the dwelling houses together with the accompanying cadres.

Watching the builders' work, he expressed thanks to their spiritual world and devotion boundlessly loyal to the country and people.

Saying that soldier-builders and members of the youth shock brigade who volunteered for the flood-hit areas are vanguard fighters who have taken the lead in the honorable struggle for the great people whom the Party is upholding as Heaven, he stressed the need for officials to always pay deep attention to ensuring their living conditions and said that the Party will take important measures for this.

Learning about the embankment project in the island areas, he indicated the ways for building permanent embankments.

Noting that the ongoing campaign for recovering from flood damage is another political process that occupies an important place in raising the stage of development of rural civilization set forth in the Party's programme for the rural revolution to a higher stage, he called for powerfully conducting political information and agitation, which instill into the minds of all the builders as an faith the self-respect and honor of the state and the consciousness of performers who are to directly carry on the sacred struggle for the well-being of regional people.

He clarified important guidelines related to the reconstruction, including the issue of timely and preferentially supplying materials and equipment needed for the project by meticulously organizing transport, the issue of speeding up the frame work to the maximum and raising the quality level by spending more time in the final construction and the issue of improving the surrounding environment and afforestation in the cultured and modern residential quarters in a proper way and in a ornamental and practical way.

He expressed expectation and belief that the soldier-builders and members of the youth shock brigade would perform brilliant feats in the honorable theatre for providing the people in the flood-hit areas with stable and enlightened life at an early date with consciousness and firm confidence that they are the creators and masters of the new era who are carrying forward the gigantic cause of comprehensive national development.
