An enlarged plenary meeting of the DPRK Cabinet took place on October 3.
Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, guided the meeting.
Present there were vice-premiers Yang Sung Ho, Ri Chol Man and Jon Sung Guk and other members of the Cabinet.
Attending it as observers were officials of the organs under the Cabinet, ministries and national agencies, chairpersons of the provincial, city and county people's committees and officials of the agricultural guidance organs, industrial establishments and units in charge of 12 major goals.
The meeting reviewed the work in the third quarter of the year to thoroughly implement the decisions of the ninth and tenth plenary meetings of the Eighth WPK Central Committee and discussed the measures for securing a clear practical guarantee for implementing the five-year plan and improving economic guidance and management.
Pak Jong Gun, vice-premier of the Cabinet and chairman of the State Planning Commission, made a report to be followed by speeches.
The meeting stressed the need to organize and command the overall national economy in a unified way, further consolidate the strict discipline and order in which all sectors unconditionally obey the instructions of the Cabinet and further strengthen the national productivity in accordance with the advance orientation and guidelines indicated by the Party Central Committee.
The meeting referred to the issue of successfully attaining the 12 major goals set by the Party by carrying out the fourth quarterly national economic plan without fail and of completing the work for readjustment and reinforcement this year, the issue of decisively improving the quality of products by giving priority to science and technology and enhancing the technical knowledge and skills of the working people, the issue for the ministries, national agencies, provincial, city and county people's committees and agricultural guidance organs to successfully conclude the farming and focus on the preparations for the next year’s farming, the issue of steadily giving precedence to the preparations of next year's struggle for certainly carrying out the five-year plan for national economic development set forth at the Eighth Party Congress on the basis of prospective and foresighted plans, and took relevant measures.
